Beamer Brands, Owner of BIGGUYS, Intends to Raise Capital to take on KFC

Owner of the BIGGUYS quick-service restaurant business, Beamer Brands, plans to seek Series A capital, with completion anticipated in September. The same hasn’t had its price revealed yet. They also have an eye on a seasoned strategic partner in QSR. Biggies Burger, Original Burger Co., Bigg Café, and Beamer Brands are the four brands operated by the 2016-founded quick-service restaurant (QSR) company based in Bengaluru. By 2027, the company wants to generate Rs 500 crore in revenue.

BIGGUYS intends to take on KFC in the interim. There is no substitute for KFC when it comes to fried chicken in India. Thus, we aimed to close the gap,” BIGGUYS founder Biraja Rout remarked.

KFC holds a substantial market share in India. According to the Mint, KFC’s and fried chicken’s market share increased after the Covid-19 outbreak, going from 7% in FY19 to 10% in FY22. Last year, the company launched the 1,000th restaurant in the country.

BIGGUYS, on the other hand, has 120 locations in Bengaluru, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha. The company wants to open between 30 and 25 stores a year in the next two years.

Rout stated, “We do not want to have a head-on fight with them based on the same category,” acknowledging that the business cannot match KFC’s deals or low prices. We are establishing a distinct category that is carving out a commercial niche.
