Brookfield buys Jet Airways office for ₹370 crore

Brookfield purchased another office floor. This floor is in the Godrej BKC building. Media reports say Jet Airways previously owned it. Brookfield paid 370.25 crore rupees. The deal happened under bankruptcy rules. The National Company Law Tribunal oversaw it. Brookfield matched Bank of Baroda’s bid. This gave them the first refusal right. Brookfield now has about 250,000 square feet.

They occupy three floors together. Jet Airways’ former space is now Brookfield’s. Brookfield also gets parking rights. They take Jet Airways’ board seat. This increases their building influence. The floor was sealed for unpaid bills. It was unsealed in April by court order. BKC is Mumbai’s priciest business area. Recent land deals there neared 5,000 crore. BKC is Mumbai’s financial center. Vacant land is rare in this hub. MMRDA leased five land plots recently.

These leases total 80 years. This generated almost 5,000 crore. Brookfield was part of one land deal. They bid for 8,411 square meters. The lease is for 80 years. It cost 1,302 crore. BKC houses many government offices. The US consulate is also located there. Luxury hotels like Sofitel are nearby.
