Drink magnate nears Nehru’s old Delhi house A huge property deal is in the works

An Indian drink company leader plans to buy a large estate. It spans 14,973 square meters. The property is in a prime Lutyens’ zone area. It was once Jawaharlal Nehru’s first Delhi home. The price is ₹1,100 crore. This could be India’s priciest property deal. People close to the matter told HT.com.

A law firm in Delhi is checking the property’s ownership. Raj Kumari Kacker and Bina Rani currently own it. A leading law firm issued a public notice. This is part of the final checks. The notice states they are looking into the title. This applies to the property at 17 Motilal Nehru Marg. The area is 14,973.383 square meters.

Anyone with claims must respond within seven days. The property sits in the Lutyens’ Bungalow Zone. A person familiar with the deal said this. They added that checks are ongoing. The deal may take a few months to finish. They asked to remain unnamed.

The estate has three floors. It covers 3.7 acres. The built-up area is about 24,000 square feet. It is now vacant. It faces the Taj Mansingh hotel. This area is one of Delhi’s most exclusive spots. Edwin Lutyens designed it from 1912 to 1930.

The sale at ₹1,100 crore would set a record. It would be India’s largest home sale. This surpasses recent Mumbai deals. A few months back, Mumbai saw a major deal. Leena Gandhi Tewari bought two apartments. They were in Worli and faced the sea. The cost was ₹639 crore. Including tax, the total was ₹703 crore. That was India’s most costly apartment sale. The price was almost ₹3 lakh per square foot.
