Powering Odisha’s Homes: Tata Power Unveils India’s Most Affordable Rooftop Solar Solution!
Great news for residents of Odisha looking to go green and save on electricity bills! Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL), a leading name in India’s rooftop solar market, has just launched what it’s calling India’s most affordable residential solar solution right in your state. This is a big step in their mission to make clean energy accessible to everyone.
Under their “Ghar Ghar Solar” (Solar for Every Home) campaign, TPREL unveiled plans in Bhubaneswar that are truly shaking up the solar market.
Unbeatable Prices & Easy Payments
How affordable is it?
- You can get a 1 kW solar system starting at just ₹2,499.
- A 2 kW system begins at ₹4,999.
- And a 3 kW system starts from ₹7,999.
Making it even easier, customers can opt for monthly installments beginning at just ₹1,249 over 25 to 30 months. This flexible payment plan makes rooftop solar a realistic option for many middle-income families across Odisha, effectively letting them pay just one-third of the total cost upfront.
“This first-of-its-kind initiative is set to accelerate residential rooftop solar adoption across the state by enabling customers to pay just one-third of the total amount, making solar power more accessible, affordable, and seamlessly integrated into households,” the company stated.
Boosting Solar Adoption with Government Support
TPREL’s initiative couldn’t come at a better time, as India is pushing hard to get more rooftop solar installed, especially in areas that haven’t adopted it widely yet. The best part? This program is made even sweeter by significant government subsidies!
Households in Odisha can claim up to an incredible ₹1.38 lakh in combined central and state support for a 3 kW system. This dramatically cuts the upfront cost, potentially covering close to 40% of the total installation expenses! Under the “PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana” (Free Electricity Scheme), you can get up to ₹78,000 from the central government, and the state government pitches in another ₹60,000 for the largest home systems.
Odisha’s Green Shift is Happening
Odisha, which was traditionally slower in adopting decentralized solar, is now seeing a remarkable change. TPREL reports that their customer base in the state has jumped more than four-fold, from just 430 to 1,759 households. This surge is largely thanks to increased awareness campaigns and the newfound affordability.
In the last financial year alone (FY25), TPREL onboarded 1,033 new rooftop solar customers in Odisha, which is a tenfold increase from the previous year (FY24)! The commercial and industrial (C&I) segment is also showing strong growth, with 76 new businesses adopting solar in FY25, up from 56 in FY24.
Tata Power is clearly committed to expanding its reach and offerings, making clean, affordable solar energy a reality for more and more homes and businesses in Odisha.
