Hyatt Hotels Corporation plans to almost double its properties in India to 100 hotels within the next six years, aiming to seize growth opportunities in this key market. The company is also looking to bring more global brands from Hyatt’s range to India.

Sunjae Sharma, Managing Director for India and Southwest Asia, expressed excitement about their expansion in India, mentioning a strong plan and commitment that should help them reach the goal of 100 hotels soon. He noted that this ambitious target is supported by the growing travel and hospitality market in India and the increasing need for quality services that travelers seek.

Currently, Hyatt operates 52 hotels in Southwest Asia, with 50 located in India and two in Nepal, and has surpassed 10,000 rooms. This makes Hyatt the third-largest portfolio outside the Americas and China. The company plans to keep expanding with well-known brands like Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Place, and Hyatt Centric, along with new brand introductions.

Sharma highlighted their recent launch of the ‘Grand Showroom’ at Grand Hyatt Mumbai, which aims to enhance their business presence in India by providing highly personalized experiences. He also mentioned that the Hyatt Regency brand is set to open in new areas, including Hyatt Regency Kasauli and Hyatt Regency Ghaziabad.

Hyatt Place has recently expanded to Aurangabad and Haridwar and is preparing to open Hyatt Place Dhaka Uttara in Bangladesh. They also have plans to introduce ‘The Unbound Collection’ in Bhopal by 2025.

For 2024, Hyatt has announced eight new properties, aiming to add nearly 1,200 rooms across different leisure and city locations by late 2024 and early 2025. Sharma emphasised India’s importance as one of Hyatt’s leading global growth markets, expressing confidence in continued expansion in the future.

Over the next five years, Hyatt’s strategy will focus on loyalty, luxury, leisure, lifestyle, and wellness, in line with evolving customer preferences. With the rise in both domestic and international tourism and the growing demand for luxury and wellness services, Sharma believes India will keep climbing in Hyatt’s global market rankings.
