Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) signs Gateway resort in Kandla, Gujarat

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a new resort in Kandla, Gujarat, which will be known as a Gateway resort. Suma Venkatesh, executive vice president of Real Estate & Development at IHCL, shared that Kandla is a key industrial hub and port city in Gujarat, with significant potential for both business and leisure travel. This project fits perfectly with IHCL’s plan to grow into new markets and enhance its presence in smaller cities across India.

The Gateway Kandla will cover over 8 acres and feature 93 rooms, conveniently located near Kandla Airport. Guests will have access to a variety of dining options, including all-day dining and specialty restaurants. The resort will also offer a modern gym and a swimming pool. With more than 19,000 sq. ft of banquet space, it’s well-suited for large events, business meetings, and destination weddings.

Sanjay Poddar, director of S Poddar International, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with IHCL to introduce the Gateway brand to Kandla, believing the hotel will become a top choice for those seeking exceptional hospitality.

Kandla is well-known for its maritime trade and serves as a significant industrial center with many companies in petroleum, chemicals, and manufacturing. The city also provides access to cultural and historical sites like the Great Rann of Kutch and Mandvi Beach.

With this new addition, IHCL will operate 25 hotels in Gujarat, including six currently under development. S. Poddar International (India) Pvt. Ltd. is a prominent importer-exporter in steel, with a varied business portfolio. Besides their steel operations, they are involved in education through the ‘S Poddar Vidyajyoti School’ in Gandhidham and are active in sectors such as TMT bars and warehousing.
